Within the scope of volunteering, we introduced our culture to the elderly people at the community center in Madeira/ Funchal. We did various activities with them. We prepared and presented our traditional dishes. I also introduced our traditional musical instrument, the baglama, and our folk dances.

Thanks to the volunteering program, I increased my cultural diversity and improved my effective communication skills.

As a member of LÖSEV we re trying to raise awareness about Cancer Disease and the behaviors the way we see the sick who had leukemia disease in community.
So during the year, our students from different schools do some activities for them and also we cooperate with LOSEV and they give seminars at schools. Thanks to LÖSEV we are aware that not the disease kills but the lack of medical opportunities caused the death of little kids in the past. So we should learn about the disease more and be thoughtful towards those kids who suffer from it for years. They are not alone.
With LOSEV especially youngsters develop emphaty and become kinder and more thoughtful people in their lives.

Agnieszka Nowakowska, from Poland wrote about her VS Long term experience at the YWCA saying " I learned how to communicate meaningfully with others and the ability to listen actively, to be empathetic and to clearly express thoughts and emotions by being diversity aware. Moreover, I increased my intercultural competence by reflecting acceptance of ambiguity and change, maintaining awareness of one’s own identity, showing a willingness and ability to look at identity, culture and related aspects and dimensions from different perspectives. This will help me a lot in my future job because I may have to deal with people from different backgrounds. Also, I was able to use different digital tools the dissemination of the activities as communicating via e mail, using internet, mobiles phones, digital cameras and other IT means for realizing and documenting the project and also for disseminating its outcomes. That will increase my ability to do it easily in the future."

Hello, I am Emrullah, I just graduated from high school, I was looking for a job where I could work without knowing everything and everyone. I started working in the ministry of youth and sports in 2018. One day, I met young people who came to our institution, they came to do a volunteering activity called drip volunteering project, which was the director of our association, and this impressed me a lot. After that day, I applied to the young volunteers platform and became a volunteer. I was selected for the project in Manisa, I had friends from many different cities and countries, we went to a primary school with these friends, we entertained the students and gave them small gifts, then in nursing homes. We met people at the rehabilitation center and had a lot of fun with them, we set up a library from the publications of our ministry and gave books as gifts, we visited martyrdoms and cemeteries, they smelled history, we were very touched here, then we cleaned the environment in the forest. It was a very important practice in terms of raising awareness for both us and the society. Those who saw it appreciated us and said that this project was a very good one. We visited the museums, historical and spiritual places of the city where the project was made. We chatted with the local people and listened to the problems of the people and tradesmen. and family visits, families and we were very pleased with this situation, we participated in the sapling planting activities and this project left very good memories for me, I think it is a project that everyone should experience.
