We really appreciate all the effort you have put into in reviewing our proposal, encouraging us to think deeper, and for replying to all our emails. While at first we were hesitant about our paper, your suggestions and comments made us rethink our motive and presentation, allowing us to delve deeper into Woolf’s unique writing style and present a more well rounded and critical analysis. Through writing this paper, we have furthered our interest in literature and were able to research more niche parts of it. We are extremely grateful for your role as expert-mentor and we sincerely appreciate your mentorship & the effort that you take to help us further our analysis. We were never once afraid to ask you for help due to your openness and kindness & even though initially we were intimidated at the face to face meeting, you treated us with utmost kindness and respect. Have a good year ahead and all the best with your future endeavours!

Dear Dr Hokama,

Thank you very much for supporting me throughout this research journey. At the start of the project, your guidance was crucial in helping me to refine the aim of my research especially as I was unfamiliar with literary research. Additionally, I am extremely grateful for your insightful feedback that encouraged me to explore the nuances of the characters in my novel and develop fresh ideas regarding the theme of alienation. Your thought-provoking feedback regarding the intersectionality of misogynism and racial alienation has significantly helped me to add more depth to my analysis by exploring diverse perspectives. Although I was initially discouraged by the difficulties of developing my analysis, your friendly demeanour and positive feedback greatly inspired me to continue developing my ideas. I also highly appreciate how you took the time to provide feedback and promptly replied to my emails despite your busy schedule. Overall, I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to have you as my Expert-Mentor and to receive your invaluable feedback which has introduced me to more comprehensive insights. Once again, I would like to sincerely thank you for providing a fulfilling and welcoming experience in literary research. Without you, this paper would not have been possible and I wish you all the best in your future endeavours!

Best,

Emma

Dear Prof Tandoc,

Working with you has been so much fun! I remember entering our first meeting over Zoom to discuss my research proposal feeling scared that you might be the feared stereotype of a scary, menacing professor, but by remarking that we both had similar hairstyles-- middle-parted hair, barely collar-length-- you really put me at ease.

Looking back now, I can't imagine doing my research project under any other Expert-Mentor. I'm grateful to you for so much more than your advice and feedback; thank you for your kindness and unending belief in me. You've helped me to become a more confident person, like in my authorial articulation, where you taught me to not tone down the results of my research in my paper.

My HSSRP journey would undoubtedly have been tiring but rewarding. However, having you as an Expert-Mentor also made it fascinatingly enriching, and amazingly fun. Which is a lot of adjectives that I would probably cut down on if this were my final paper-- but my final paper is done and dusted, and it's all thanks to your unending support and care. Hooray for similar-haired Prof Tandoc!

Best,

Rosemary

For example, we will always remember your enthusiasm during our first meeting, as you introduced to us the issue of phubbing and device usage during meals, which we eventually decided to center our study on. You have been and continue to be an exemplary role model to us, through both your vast knowledge and ability to convey your suggestions engagingly and effectively.

Without a shadow of doubt, we would not have been able to achieve what we have without you.
