There were references to people, places, events and political philosophies.

1 celebration=A success that I experienced was actually being able to use the technology of the google hyperdoc, google classroom, google comments and the peer editing form. I was surprised to find the  substantial amount of commentary that the Hunger Games made on different issues.

1 frustration = I have never written a research paper on a novel, so it was challenging for me to figure out how to write one. It took me a long time to write my paper.

1 celebration = A success that I experienced was being able to write a research paper without having to consult my teacher a substantial amount. Although I did ask questions, I did not ask nearly as many questions as I would ask with past research papers that I have written.

- A children book can be mind opening and make people think about their life choices and how their voices can impact a person seriously. With the book being a children story, people would not think of it seriously but this book has historical context connected to the author's biography.

- A success that I experience is actually writing the paper by using the help of the peer editors and my teacher. Their opinions helped me a lot.

Since I went on a Holocaust remembrance trip this past April, it made this process easier for me, and easier to write about. At first, I believed that Rowling wrote her books to entertain her audience. However, when you look at a book in the context of the real world events that happened prior to its publication, the novel often reflects morals that fit in with these events.

2) I found it frustrating to find outside sources that supported my thesis. There is not many sources that combine elements of a children's adventure novel with pieces of historical evidence, so this was difficult. 

3) A success for me was completing the rough draft before the deadline. This enabled me to get valuable edits from my peers and teacher.

Each one clearly affects the other even if they are not related in any way. There is always some source to use to connect your points together by using outside contexts. 
2) What I found frustrating was the sources. The problem with my sources was that they were more or less campaigns about a type of action to take about a current environmental issue. It did not have much information about older experiences, like carnivals. 
3) A success for me was the correct use of transitions and a smoother thesis statement.   • New understanding: I learned some new important details of the Vietnam War. Another interesting thing I learned would be King’s different take on why evil people act evil/
  • Frustration: One part that frustrated me is  finding sources that accurately targeted my thesis. Most sources only focused on how a totalitarian government controls their people through fear, rather than the point King focused on.
  • Celebration: A success that I experienced would be when I was able to draw two different ideas, from two parts of the paper, together in one part. I felt that I was able to successfully connect different aspect of the historical context into the text accordingly.

    A frustration is the amount of time given to work on it. Between taking a week to find the book and to be able to get it, to then AP testing interupting my time, to work and physics, and life's struggles and mysteries, it was hard to find the time i needed to fully work on it

Something I learned that I did not know before was that even though colonizing Nigeria did result in a loss of culture, it opened new jobs for people to engage in to help ends meet. It also allowed for new opportunities to branch out into different fields of works such as a trader, artisan, or craftsman.

    2. One frustration I had was making sure that my essay was in accordance with my thesis statement. This was hard because I  always had to keep double checking it and re reading it frequently.

    3. A celebration I experienced was being able to write about Nigeria. I feel as though I don't get to write about things and places that are near and dear to me so this was something I truly enjoyed.

    2. I found it frustrating that I was unsure of what the prompt was, I  was trying to make my paper a literary analysis paper while also including arguable points. I struggled to include both of those strategies. 
    3. I think that i successfully found my research that I needed to make the paper well written. One  thing I learned while writing this project is how to compare a society that is fantasy base and relate it to a society that was around in ancient history and how they were both horrible for the people living in them.

  • 1 new understanding - While Mitch Albom is currently know for his novels, it was Tuesdays with Morrie that set off his career as an author. Previously he was a sports writer.
  • 1 frustration - Finding sources that criticized the novel without the authors adding in their personal experiences. Most of the authors had tried to incorporate their life story to back up their opinions
  • 1 celebration - Reading another novel by Mitch Albom. I read Five People You Meet In Heaven last year for my English project and hope to continue reading Albom's works
