         <description><![CDATA[<div>Working primarily out of the realm of geometry, I was unsure what I would be about to take away from this class. Early on, it was my main goal to understand what students will know coming into my class. I soon found out there are many things that needed to be used from the class. Attached are the items I felt would enhance my students experience, even if I don't teach "geometry." Each activity explains what I learned from the class.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Representing Formulas (Fractals)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Many students remember formulas, but may be missing the context behind them! Students need to recognize what a formula truly means. Though this isn't something I have learned from this class specifically, I am always looking for more activities where students have to attempt a task, and then describe the mathematics behind it. This activity is an extension to the fractal cards. I really enjoy this activity as there are many different formulas the students could create or that you as a teacher could have them create. This has taught me to look for activities that promote multiple answers as well!</div>]]></description>

         <title>Measurement</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>One place students lack skills are in their measurement abilities. I have found from this class that I need to have my students measure things more. In my pre-calculus class, I have given the classic question of how tall a tree is. Typically side lengths and angles are given and the students then use the trigonometry learned in class. This doesn't allow the student to dive into the content. Students need to go out and actually make the measurements themselves! Attached is the indirect measurement packet. I hope to implement methods from this packet to show that the things studied in class actually work!These activities showed me that I don't always have to be in a classroom setting for my students to learn!</div>]]></description>

         <title>Measurement with Accuracy and Precision</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This fractal activity allowed students to create their own fractal. To do so, students had to measure each cut themselves and make sure they used accuracy with their measuring tool, and to be as precise as possible. I love this activity as it allowed the students to create a cool design, but challenged their measuring abilities. This alone will enhance the students learning,  but also leads into the next activity of representing formulas</div>]]></description>

         <title>Student Investigation</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The final activity that I would like to use as an opener in class is the Surface Area of a Cone. I work with arc lengths in Pre-Calculus in terms of radian measures. This will challenge the student to relate past and present topics with each other to create fluidity between the subjects! This is important as each math class we teach continues to build upon itself!</div>]]></description>
