My grandparents were migrants of the great migration, from rural Mississippi.

In my experience working in social work, particularly within impoverished communities, I have had the opportunity to engage with various humanitarian efforts, particularly through the public school system and with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). I've supported children who have faced abuse, discrimination, and neglect, often serving as an advocate for their rights and wellbeing. Additionally, my work in crisis intervention through psychiatric assessments has allowed me to assist in immediate mental health support, ensuring that those in vulnerable situations receive timely care. This aligns closely with the values of humanitarianism, as my efforts focus on alleviating suffering, advocating for marginalized populations, and promoting social justice, particularly within systems that often fail to meet the needs of these children and families.
