Although Massacio’s art career only lasted about six years and his paintings were in the middle rank, they made an impact on Florence, They influenced future generations of important artists. Like Filippo Lippi, Fra Angelico, Andrea del castagno and Piero della Francesca. Masaccio's brother was known for a few painting's himself. Masaccio was a full-fledged painter ready to supervise his own workshop. Tommaso di Giovanni di Simone Guidi got his nickname Masaccio (Which means Clumsy Tom) because of his tendency to forget about affairs between nations. In the Renaissance, art was often a family enterprise passed down from father to son. Its not known why Masaccio and his brother became painters even though none of their immediate family were artists. Masaccio’s grandfather was a maker of chests which were often painted.
