Racism is the belief that race determines a person's value in life. It played a major role in the justification of New Imperialism. People thought it was okay to treat others very poorly because of the color of their skin. Racism has been around and is even still around today.

Imperialism is an extension of a nation's power over other lands. It changed a lot in the 1800s when the Europeans were looking to expand on their lands. They were looking for more than just trade posts. They wanted more land, resources, and slave labor.

Trench Warfare was the main combat in World War 1. This is a combat where troops fight from trenches about 50 yards away facing each other. Many people suffered from disease, trench foot, shell shock, and more. Trench warfare was also very scary because at any time a bomb could get thrown and you could die.

It also brought the death of European Empires and birth of new nations. The Treaty of Versailles was also signed, which officially ended the war and punished Germany for it.

World War 2 involved 70 million armed forces and 30 nations. It also caused a rise of totalitarianism which is where the government leader has complete control. People were forced to put the good of their nation over their own lives. There was many drafts for military, where if your birthday was called, you had to fight.

The Cold War was a decade long stalemate between the US and Soviet Union. Most of the fight was over communism and democracy. This led to the formation of the United Nations, which took place of the League of Nations. This was a non-violent war mostly fought in the Koreas.
