As he explored the cave, he saw a strange looking figure in the distance. Just like Daniel and his friends would of done, he went to go and take a closer look. Though he wished he didn't, at this point he was getting chased place to place by a BEAR!!! Taking him to places that he hasn't yet explored. He wished he didn't take that closer look because not only was he once getting chased by a single bear but now a pack of them. Daniel regretted coming into this cave.

Circuses nowadays are nothing like circuses in the past. In Ancient Rome, the circus was a building for chariot races, gladiatorial combat and battles to death. The creator of the first circus was a man named Philip Astley who was born in 1742 in Newcastle-under-Lyme, England. Philip then brought all the elements of the circus in 1768.

As Daniel's eyes accustomed to the darkness, the shapes around started to come into view. The room was a children's centre-but it seemed to be empty and abandoned. The dim light above was flickering gently and rusty, rainbow paint was peeling off the walls. Nostalgic music was still playing on a radio on a shelf, glitching every few seconds. The cold air felt slightly unwelcoming, as if it was warning Daniel of something there.

Hello! My name is Yahya Ahmad and I’m 11 years old. I’ve been making people laugh since I was little (well, littler!). I started clowning around properly when I was about three years old, and I’ve loved it ever since. I wear big red shoes, a wobbly nose, and always carry a joke in my pocket – just in case! The trees were tall and twisted, and the whole forest felt like it was holding its breath. Fog slid across the ground like ghost hands, and the only sound was the soft crunch of leaves under my feet. I followed a silver trail that sparkled like stars, leading me far away from the Emporium — into danger.

I had to protect the notebook. It held the secrets of the Emporium, and I couldn’t let Malvora get it.

She was once a creator of wonders, like Mr Silver, but now she made dark, twisted ones. She was thrown out long ago… but now she was back, and she was after me.

I felt her before I saw her. Cold swept through the trees, and then she appeared — tall, cloaked in black, with glowing purple eyes and a smile that gave me chills.

“Give me the book, Daniel,” she said, her voice somehow inside my head.

I ran.

Branches scratched my arms, and shadows chased me, but I didn’t stop. Her creepy laugh echoed behind me, getting closer and closer.

Then I saw it — a golden glow ahead. The archway back to the Emporium!

I jumped through just as her shadow reached for me. The forest vanished in a flash of silver dust.

I was back. Safe.

Just in time.

But I knew Malvora wasn’t done. Not yet.

Scientific Name: Pongo pygmaeus (Bornean), Pongo abelii (Sumatran), Pongo tapanuliensis (Tapanuli)

Habitat: Tropical rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra

Diet: Mainly fruit, but also leaves, bark, insects, and occasionally small animals

Lifespan: Around 30–40 years in the wild; up to 50 years in captivity

Size: 1.2–1.5 meters tall (4–5 feet); males can weigh up to 90 kg (200 lbs)

Behavior: Orangutans are mostly solitary and spend most of their time in trees. They are highly intelligent and known for using tools.

The Gruffalo is big and scary but also kind of funny. He has purple prickles on his back and big teeth! I thought he would eat the mouse, but he didn’t.

The mouse is smart and tricked all the animals, even the Gruffalo. I liked the Gruffalo because he looks scary but isn’t mean. I think he just wants a friend.

Futurism was an artistic and social movement that began in Italy in the early 20th century, around 1909. It focused on the themes of speed, technology, youth, violence, industry, and modernity. The artists wanted to break away from the past and celebrate the dynamic energy of the modern world.

The movement was started by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, who published the Futurist Manifesto in 1909. This document called for a complete rejection of old traditions in art and culture, and instead praised the beauty of machines, cities, and movement.

In art, Futurist painters like Umberto Boccioni, Giacomo Balla, and Carlo Carrà created works that showed motion, light, and speed. Their paintings often used bold colors, geometric shapes, and repeating lines to give the feeling of movement and energy.

The Bornean, the Sumatran and the recently confirmed new species (as of 2017), the Tapanuli. These great apes are only found in the wild on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra.  

All three orangutan species are critically endangered. It’s difficult to determine how many orangutans are left in the world, but estimates suggest that there are just over 100,000 Bornean, fewer than 14,000 Sumatran, and less than 800 Tapanuli orangutans left.

Although they might look fairly similar with their fluffy ginger fur, Bornean orangutans have darker red coats and rounder faces than their Sumatran cousins.   

2. Orangutans are the heaviest tree-dwelling animal

They spend most of their lives swinging through the canopies and need vast stretches of forest to find enough food and mates.

Orangutans have an arm span of about 2.2 m (over 7 ft) from fingertip to fingertip.  

4. They don't mind eating with their feet

Orangutans are incredibly dexterous and use both hands and feet while gathering food and travelling through the trees.

Young orangutans stay with their mother until they reach around 7 years old. They spend this time learning everything from er – including what’s good to eat.  

6. Males are majestic

Some adult male orangutans develop flaps of fatty tissue on both sides of their face - known as flanges - which develop when they're fully mature, at around 35 years old. 

Like all great apes, an orangutan has a long lifespan and can live to over 30 years in the wild—many live to 50.  

7. They build nests to sleep in

Orangutans like to be comfortable. They make a sleeping platform, or nest, every night.  

An orangutan makes its nest in around 10 minutes, by pulling several large branches together, using smaller branches for a mattress and binding the structure together by weaving in more supple branches. In wet weather, they sometimes add a roof.  

8. Some orangutans use tools

As you might have seen in Our Planet, some Sumatran orangutans use tools - like sticks to get termites, ants or bees out of tree holes.  

These clever creatures have also been observed making a 'glove' out of leaves when handling prickly fruits or thorny branches. 

9. They have smelly taste in food

Orangutans mainly eat fruits, such as mangoes, lychees and figs, but they also feed on young leaves, flowers, insects, and even small mammals. Fruit makes up around 60% of an orangutan's diet, but when it’s scarcer they also eat some weird sounding things, like soil and tree bark.

10. Orangutans are under grave threat

It's estimated that over 100,000 Bornean orangutans were lost between 1999 and 2015. The main threat is the loss or fragmentation of their forest habitat, caused by logging for timber materials, forest fires and making way for oil palm plantations.  

Oil palm trees produce palm oil - an edible vegetable oil - which is used in many products, from toothpaste to pizza. Indonesia and Malaysia make up over 85% of the global supply of palm oil. 

Air resistance, also known as drag, is a type of friction that occurs when an object moves through the air. It acts in the opposite direction to the motion of the object, slowing it down. The amount of air resistance an object experiences depends on several factors, including its speed, shape, surface area, and the density of the air. For example,a a parachute experiences a lot of air resistance, which helps slow a person down as the fall. Unlike gravity which pulls objects downward , air resistance works against the motion, playing an important role in how fast or slow objects fall through the atmosphere.

Water resistance, also known as drag in water, is a force that opposes the motion of an object moving through water. Similar to air resistance, it slows objects down, but it is usually stronger because water is denser than air. The amount of water resistance depends on the object's shape, speed, surface area, and the viscosity. Streamlined shapes, like those of fish of submarines, help reduce water resistance, allowing smoother and faster movement through water. This force is important in swimming, boating, and designing underwater vehicles, as it affects how much energy is needed to move efficiently in water.
