"If you don't tell the truth now, then later on it hurts even more." (pg. 120)
This quote connects ties the question because telling the truth may hurt, but what hurts even more is founding out someone told you a lie instead of the truth. So telling the truth may be the right thing to always do. CA: On the other hand, sometimes a lie can be beneficial.

Mrs. Shears had told the police that Christopher had killed Wellington, which was a lie (pg. 14)

This connects to the question because I believe even though, we know, that Christopher did not kill the dog. Mrs. Shears did not know that. She happened to step outside and found her dead dog lying on the ground with Christopher around it. Which made her believe one thing at that very moment: Christopher had to been the one who killed the dog. Mrs. Shears did not intentionally tell a lie. So at this moment it was morally acceptable for her to lie because she reacted quickly.

But I feel like doctors do know when their patients can handle information like that, maybe Nai's Nai's doctor knew she couldn't with hold information like that because she isn't mentally strong. Especially since she only had a few months to live. So it was for the best she didn't know.

At the end of the movie we were told that the grandmother had gone on to live even longer that she was expected to live. this shows that sometimes it is beneficial to lie because according to their beliefs people with cancer die of the fear and not of the cancer so they did not tell her. at the end this lie ended up being beneficial because the grandmother lived.

"Mother had no died, Mother had been alive all this time. and father had lied about this" this quote shows that christopher feels hurt that hes father had lied to him about this. finding out that someone had lied to you is a terrible feeling and christopher would have been spared this emotions if only his dad had told him the truth.

"isnt it wrong to lie?" "Its not really a lie" "yes it is" " a good one" This is the conversation that the doctor and billi are having infront of nai nai in english i think that its not morally acceptable to tell a lie about someones life like this and that a person should always have the right to know if they are about to die or not.
