They don't necessarily have to focus on the object, but they should be able to show shadow, highlights, and texture on things that should have it.

Taking the time to get the perfect amount of light, and putting the right filter on a picture goes a long way. I feel that technique is a very big factor in how good the picture is. Capturing the beauty of the scenery is a good way to make a good photograph
2) Well I think that Instagram and Snapchat are two very different apps that have two different environments. In Snapchat your not  expected to take an amazing picture your just expected to record your life since the picture deleted in 24 hours. In Instagram there is more thought put into the picture since they don't disappear. Instagram encourages time to take and edit the picture.
