Reynard is often compared to an anthropomorphic red fox. He is a fox that can stand up like a human. During the fables, we learned that his main enemy is the wolf, Isengrim or Ysergrim. He's often seen as parodies of medieval literature. He lives in a world of talking animals and he makes jokes about the human society. The Robin Hood on Disney is based off of Reynard the fox. He's described as a trickster and a jokester.

In most of the stories, he’s known as the peasant hero. He’s poor, fights for poor people and civilians rights.

People considered him a folk hero

He’s known for stealing fire for humans from Hell, fishing up islands with his hook, etc.
