I found the part in which he details the time log of a family using each room of the house interesting. It made me question if space only exists around its purpose

i.e. would an entrance hall with an oven still be referred to as an entrance hall or would it become a kitchen.

Perec discusses how architects build rooms with purpose, so to that architect, would the entrance hall without a front door still be an entrance hall?

It's interesting to think about our territories and the labels we give them, how most of society would label each room of a house with the same name and how when we see a staircase there is an expectation that it brings you to another space. Is this because our world is uniquely designed around humans?

Perec's goal is clear, he wants us to examine the way we think about things further, why do we think that way and how else can we think about it. I found myself questioning things a bit more after reading his text and I'll probably look further into his writings

I started in the middle with yellow and orange being my mind and body and expanding into the shades of blue and purple which represent my room, my house and my town. I made sure certain colours didn't touch as I felt they don't connect in territories i.e. the orange and purple touch as they represent my body and my town.

The last territories exist on the other side of the diagram in light green and dark green and they represent wants and fears. Fear only touches my mind while wants are body and mind. I didn't feel the need to put any other territories on the diagram as I don't feel they belonged or that I counted them as my territories, so therefore I think it's quite a small and simple diagram.

I also found the end of the text interesting as he filled in words about moving out and moving in. How it takes a lot of energy when we first inhabit a space, thinking, designing and decorating but so little to leave a space.

For some reason, whilst reading about Rajkowska's work, I was reminded of the work of Rachel Whiteread, particularly her work 'Nameless Library' which is a holocaust memorial.

Whiteread in her work discussed contained and uncontained space which I think is something that heavily relates to the work of Rajkowska, especially in the extract where Rajkowskas talks about with her mother how space transforms.

I think both artists take the approach to transforming space with trauma while still memorialising it. I liked how Rajkowska did this with her 'Born in Berlin' work, confronting a 'political' space with her pregnant body has a very poignant meaning.

the background noises would catch me off guard, I remember the part about not slamming the door behind me and I instinctively would look behind me as if there was going to be a door there.

I do feel like I want to do this again outside the college as the environment is pretty familiar and I kind of felt myself going where I thought I should go which I had to correct myself occasionally and it kind of took away the immersive aspect away.

I found that from reading this article there are ways in which I as a person without disability can overlook obstacles that someone else may face. The map that is included in the article is really insightful and a good way of maybe informing people that there are obstacles on the way to a certain place. Although that map is a step in the right direction it is also the responsibility of county councils and government to make cities and public spaces way more accessible.

Whilst reading this article I thought about an app called Wase which gives drivers real-time data on disruptions or garda checkpoints and I thought that would be a good concept for people with disabilities. I presumed there was already a version of this app out but I was not aware of one, I found an app called Wheelmap which also gives real-time updates about obstacles and accessible restaurants and toilets.

I first guided Taighan around the park..I wanted to make it a bit interesting so I made sure I took her across different surfaces of the path...I was surprised by the apprehension she felt about moving around...I thought it couldn't be that scary but I later found out I was quite wrong when I had done my own turn. I found myself being more aware of sounds and areas that might be harder to walk on as I was taking careful consideration to make sure we weren't walking on slippy areas.

When I started mine we started from where I left Taighan and immediately I felt I lost a sense of balance, sounds became clearer to me and I was conscious that maybe other people might be around. I was wearing shoes with relatively thin soles so I could really feel the different terrains we were walking on i.e. concrete, grass, and playground padding. The feeling that I was going to walk straight into something was affecting me, my mind seemed to be playing tricks on me. I was using the light and dark to guess if I was close to a tree or object which might be casting a shadow. We ended up in an area that was at the edge of the park beside some trees, when I opened my eyes I was so surprised about where I was as I expected to be on almost the complete opposite side of the park. I felt I was taking in a lot more with my eyes as I was looking around..seeing things that felt so close whilst I was walking were actually quite far from me. overall I actually really liked the experience as I'd never done something like that before and found it insightful to see how much comfort my sight gives me, I can predict things with my sight but without it, I felt lost.

The jittery part of the article was most interesting to me as I’d never considered just how watched we are, from the minute I leave the door of my apartment to when I get to college I would say there is less than 5 metre where I would not be recorded on some kind of surveillance. These forms of architecture are a way of control, arguably it’s a control to make the general public safer but in doing so why does it have to isolated other groups of society. After reading this article I found myself keeping an eye out for cctv cameras and seeing just how many are around me at all times.
