    I think they occur because depending on the person or age there is a lack of understanding what it means or a not taught properly, therefore they cite wrong or not at all. I think there is also pressure to hand thing in on time, so one may just copy and paste so they can hand it in on time.

Schools should teach academic integrity at a young age where that age group can understand what is being taught. Work on writing skills with students so that they may not feel the need to use other works and be confident in their own writing abilities. Lastly, I think websites/databases that cover a plethora of different topics should be provided for students and citation guides or websites that explain certain formats and what is the correct formatting for each (i.e MLA, APA, etc.)
