*The speaker is the main character Bri, talking about the unjust encounter she had with security guards at her school.
*The audience is the reader(to spread awareness about this situation), but Bri also tells her aunt and friend about it which makes them the audience as well.
*In this quote, Bri had been selling candy at school to help her mom pay the bills, but according to the school, you can't sell anything on campus. The guards automatically assumed that she had drugs and violently tackled her to the ground when she did not want to show them her backpack.
*I chose this quote because it is extremely powerful. It illustrates how corrupt the law enforcement system is, unfortunately especially towards People of Color. This is just one of the many impactful quotes in this book that spread awareness on issues relating to this.

One recent example of this was the rioting at the capitol. If it had been BLM protesters, there would have been tear gas and rubber bullets. It is a very eye-opening book and addresses so many important current societal issues in a way that keeps the younger audiences reading it engaged and truly wanting to learn more.
