Which strategies did you choose and why? The three Strategies that I had used this past school year included Charades, the Human Continuum and Journals. I had used these because I found them to be beneficial to what I was teaching in my resource room. Charades helped my students remember some of the concepts I was teaching especially since they were characters. The Human Continuum was beneficial for my older students when I was assessing how well they understood a topic and Journals were used quite a bit when I wanted students to reflect on ideas, journal about their opinions, or to release some negative feelings they may have had.

Which strategy was the most successful? Why? I think the most effective strategy for learning new materials and understanding them was charades. When using this strategy to help student learn the Superflex characters or when trying to gain a deeper understanding about their emotions they were able to have fun while also learning and using their knowledge in a different form other than just pen and paper.

Next steps: How could you adapt the strategy(ies) to best fit your students going forward? There is always room for improvement when it comes to teaching. I could incorporate more real-life examples or have the things they journal about be deeper thoughts and higher-level questions. I also would love to try to incorporate next year, the strategies of Camp Songs and carousel brainstorming.
