The final module of this study block, boundaries is by far the one I'm most apprehensive for. This style of design is very far removed from anything I've ever done before.

I enjoy challenging myself to think more conceptually, and I'm sure this project will do just that, and for the most part I enjoy that challenge. However, some conceptual design/ conceptual art can be just outright irritating for me, as I feel that sometimes it goes too far, to the point where the original communication is lost through "too much" communication

Our module began with an intense three day group workshop designed to help us gather inspiration from our surroundings. We began b y photographing some day-to-day features, such as peers and elders we could learn from, as well as places that we may not often notice. Then using these photographs, we played a game designed to remove brain static, and aid complete free thought.

One person had to try and describe an invention, without any knowledge of it, as the rest of the class came up with the invention separately. I thoroughly enjoyed this game, and it really helped me discover a new method of idea generation. Perhaps I won't copy the same game, but using photographs, and simply generating random ideas in my own head, combining elements of the thins I see infant of me could be a great way of doing so.

Then the class was split up into large groups, and we were working towards a common goal. The goal was to create the favourite invention we came up with during that game. My group was tasked with gathering interviews from peers and elders around campus to then play as audio in our 'thinking dome'. This part of the workshop was quite tricky, as the groups were so large, that work simply couldn't be spread round equally, so many group members had little to nothing to do.

In addition, as each group was working on separate tasks, we had no clue what each of the other groups were working on, which meant I felt slightly disconnected from the overall task.

However, the final outcome came together really well, and the making team did a great job of bringing it to life in such a short time.

As my process boards were filled with failed ideas, back and forth etc. I wanted to try and reduce some of that this time, so the boards could focus more on the final idea. But at this stage, I am still working on both projects, which means my progress on boundaries has been slowed. Also, I am struggling to settle on an idea, more so than the other projects. As stated before, when ideas get too conceptual, I struggle to settle on them, or even like them a lot of the time. And currently, I can't settle on an idea particularly well.

I have been having meetings with friends etc. but nothing seems to be sticking!

Finally, I have settled on an idea! Through many emergency meetings with peers, and taking time away from boundaries, to return with fresh eyes, I have landed upon my idea of a design arcade.

The idea generation was very frustrating on this project, but hopefully now, I can begin to finalise this project. This project has really pushed me to my creative limit, and it was very frustrating at times, which funnily enough, puts some real evidence behind my process outcome!

Anyway, this project has really opened my eyes to a more lateral way of thinking. And I definitely feel some improvements in my thinking ability, I think I am now able t5o use this project as an example to stop, take a step back, and consider how these elements interact with each other - "is there another way to look at this?"

The essay is the final thing on the list to complete, and it was by far the part of this whole study blocks I was looking forward to the least. However, it seems the be the easiest for me currently? Perhaps because it gives me a break from the constant idea generation, and creative thinking I've had to do with these three projects. And the essay gives me a chance to use a different part of my brain for a while.

It seems to be coming together really easily. My idea changed subtly, but most of the references I found originally are still relevant. I think this is one of the most well rounded essays I have written ever. My referencing is strong, and I am trying my absolute best to use the correct terminology and academic language I have struggled to use for most of my uni career. But through my dissertation, I was really able to understand how to writer academically. And I think I have created an essay I am proud of here.

I handed in a small document discussing my journals as part of process, but I wanted to reiterate the fact I am going the move g platforms for the next study block. I think I hoped I could migrate to something more professional earlier, but I haven't had to time to migrate over just yet.

While paddle is very easy to use, it just isn't as professional as I would have liked, and you get a limit on the amount of pallets you can create! Therefore, I am going t begin moving everything over to adobe portfolio. There, I can include example of my work, and the space I can occupy is much greater, instead of the tiny boxes you get on here.

Also, as the block has gone on, I have had less and less time to write in these, as I have been so stressed and occupied with trying to settle on an idea. However, next term (now I have got to grips with the course, and the way all these requirements fit together), I am going to hit the ground running, and keep the journal up to date as I go along.

Also, as I mentioned, this project has made me feel more confident in lateral idea generation, so I think I won't be spending quite as much time considering my ideas.
