In the book "The Skin I'm In" the main character Maleeka also grows up in the rough part of her neighborhood and she also deals with getting bullied by someone at her school. Kind of like how Darius gets heckled by Midnight and Tall Boy all the time. Another thing they have in common is that Maleeka's father died so her and her mom have been struggling a little financially ever since and are just slipping by.
