Self-reliance, is the ability to have confidence in oneself to succeed a task and overcome obstacles. That is exactly what Chris McCandless thought of himself. McCandless's had a supreme confidence in his ability to go days without food, live isolated in the wilderness, and fight and prevail against the vicious forces of nature. "Trust thyself" is a self-reliant principle that McCandless lived by. McCandless's demonstrated the self-reliant principle of defying the moral and conform aspects of society. McCandless refused to let his inner voice "grow faint and inaudible" as he entered "into the real world".  McCandless's realized that "society is in conspiracy" of destroying those who believe in the ideology of self-reliance. Da Vinci set the precedent for modern day mathematics, science, anatomy, and philosophy. Although Da Vinci is praised today, he was significantly misunderstood during his time. Da Vinci was thought of as a madman, a psychopath whose thirst for knowledge turned him into the devil. Da Vinci collected corpses and dissected them for scientific advancement, and created (considered at that time) outrageous inventions (aerial screw for human flight). These lyrics show how only through self care and individuality without depending on external factors for satisfaction, true peace and enjoyment is achieved.  From the song, "No one to answer to" can be paralleled to "The virtue in most request is conformity".
