We'll be diving into pacing today. A few things... EL Education recommends only teaching 3 modules this year. They also have guidance on which portion of lessons can/should be done synchronously vs. asynchronously. Also, remember to lower the stakes - most teachers I've worked with struggled to complete the lessons designed to take 45-50 minutes in that amount of time, so even in a normal year, pacing is always tough!

This is tough but so valuable to prioritize. For our learners at home, breakout rooms with some accountability - perhaps a slide they have to edit within the allotted time or simply letting Partner A know that when the breakout room is closed, he/she will need to share. For students in the classroom, mini whiteboards might be a good option. Think about ways to make activities more of a jigsaw - everyone records their idea on their own paper but those papers are combined (literally) to create on poster/chart. If possible, consider having students move to a predetermined spot in the classroom - kids 1-4 go to corner 1, kids 5-8 go to corner 2, etc... This way, you're limited who they are interacting with but still giving them the opportunity to talk.
