OP ART: It is the form of abstract art that tends to give the third dimension effect in painting. String art

String art or pin and thread art,is characterized by an arrangement of colored thread strung beetwen poimts to form geometric patterns or representational desings such as ship's sails. Though straight lines are formed by the string,the slightly different angles and metric positions at which strings intersect gives the appearance of Bézier curves. String art has its own origins in the 'curve stitch' activities invented by Mary Boole in 19th century to make mathematical ideas more accesible to children. She was a really interesting women given the fact that her life is of interest to feminists as an example of how women made careers in an academic system that did not welcome them. Mary Boole was a selftaught mathematician who is best known as an author of didactic works on mathematics, such as Philosophy and fun of Algebra. Her progressive ideas on education as an expounded in ,,The Preparation of the child for science" , included encouraging children to explore mathematics through playful activities such as curve stitching. She was a wife of a felkow mathematician George Boole.

Möbius Strip

Möbius strip,a one-sided surface that can be constructed by affixing the ends of a rectangular strip after first having given one of the ends a one-half twist. This space exhibits interesting properties such as having only one side when split down the middle. The properties of the strip were discovered independently and almost simultaneously by two German mathematicians August Ferdinand Möbius and Johann Benedict Listing in 1858.

Fractals

Fractals are infinitely complex patterns that are self-similiar across different scales. They are created by repeating a simple process over and over in an ongoing feedback loop. Driven by recursion, fractals are images of dynamic systems - the picture of Chaos. Geometrically they exist in between our familiar dimensions.
Benoit B. Mandelbrot was a Polish-born French-American mathematician and Polymath with broad interests in the practical sciences, especially regarding what he labeled as ,,the art of roughness" of physical phenomena and ,,the uncontroled element in life". He referred to himself as a ,,fractalist" and is recognized for his contribution to the field of fractal geometry, which included coining word,,fractal" aswell as developing a theory of ,,roughness and selfsimilarity" in nature.
