12/9/17
Got into groups of 2 and rehearsed a scene from Equus. The scene was the one where Hesther begs Dysart to take Alan Strang as his patient. We tried to add some motives to the characters. Me and Elishea figured that Hesther would try to seduce Dysart to make him do what she wanted him to do. Our warm up was walking around the room in different speeds to be aware of how much 1-10 was according to our own judgement and trying to get in sync with the rest of the group.

13/9/17
We did a ball exercise to try to learn everyone's names by throwing it in a particular order around the room ehilst walking around.
Then we played the 7 word game where we got 7 words as a group and tried to act out a scene, only using those words. Then we played the one minute challenge where we all lied down whilst counting to 60 seconds and we tried to make it as accurate as possible, to sync with the rest of the class. We also got into groups of 5 where we had to do six steps the fastest as possible. We had to: Touch 4 walls, arrange our ages from oldest to youngest, sing happy birthday to the one with their birthday the closest, piggy back around the room, jump ten times and do 3 push-ups.

14/9/17

We looked at how we use language in a scene from a script. What's happening? What's the setting? Who are the characters? We looked at how important punctuation is and how it changes a scene. We also tried to show more commitment in a scene and to take more risks, which totally changes the atmosphere and raises the energy levels. What I can work on is articulation and to think a bit more about what the scenes are about, and the meaning of the texts and its words.

27/9/2017
Warmup: The aging population which is walking around the room and acting out different ages. We tried to see how we physicalise being old, a teenager and a toddler. We also though about how stylised we made it from 1-7 so make it seem realistic.

We did a space exercise where we had a setting and a limited amount of space. We discovered how the amount of space determined the atmosphere, tension and desperation in the scene. The closer we were together the more tension was created. We pretended to be on a bus stop, under the bus shelter and in a prison cell with a limited amount of oxygen.

28/9/17
We looked at a text called "faith in ourselves", read it out loud and analysed it. We thought of what it related to and reminded us of. We did a warmup exercise called "what are you doing" where we stood in a circle, someone went in and acted out an action and were asked what they were doing. Then they replied with something else and that was the thing the next person were supposed to do. We played with sticks to really focus on what we were doing and how we were holding them. Then we created space and dynamics in groups to see how a stick could create a scenario or setting really easily.

3/10/17

We got into groups of 2 and rehearsed Act 1 Scene 3 of Equus. Then we gathered around, watched some couples play the scene and Darren gave some important tips of how to improve the scene. For example who had the authority and how to look provoking. After that we looked at Act 1 scene 5, Dysarts monologue, and in groups rehearsed a chorus with a narrator.

19/10/17
On today's lesson we gathered into groups and got the task to carry 2 people across the room without using hands or arms, which resulted in our group crawling on all fours with people on our backs. We did this to synchronise with our group and practise team work.
After that, we all got linked together holding each other's ankles and races across the room, only one person was allowed to move. We did this to focus on team work as well. After that we got into groups, chose one item each and created a movement based on how the object could move. This was a complicite exercise to help us get some ideas on how to create something from nothing and how we then can use those movements in other contexts and scenes. The group then assembled their movements and made a choreography. This helped us understand how we then could adapt our movements that we got from an object to start a scenario. Later we walked around in chosen groups, but we did not walk around as a group. We tried to synchronise our movements and gestures without revealing who the leader of the group was. It helped us focus on synchronisation and how as an actor on stage you sometimes have to be synchronised without glaring at each other at all times.

1/11/17
Aging population: Complicité exercise where we portray people of different ages stylised and stereotypical. Eg a toddler crawling or an old person walking hunched over with a bad hip.

We've used sticks to portray different sizes of spaces and shapes, which shows that you can use anything and convince your audience with some imagination.

We've explored how space affects the dynamic of a scene, for instance standing at a bus stop vs. Standing at a a bus stop whilst it's raining, or struggling for air in a small prison cell vs a big one.

We've focuses on transitions of scenes and showing the audience some kind of journey to transition between scenes.

We've done ensemble work, where we've used all of these techniques in scenes or movement pieces.

On today's lesson we explored the elements fire and air. We portrayed how air moved and how to resist wind with our bodies. We tried to simulate how it is to walk through a hurricane and realised how our body language changed in those conditions. We also portrayed how it is to move like fire or how to walk through fire. Our body language and facial expressions quickly changes as well. We learnt that we can adapt these movements into other pieces.

7/11/17
Darren taught us a game which consisted of everyone sitting in a circle, he'd tap someone on the back and we'd then have to guess who it was by their body language. We did this twice and found out in the end that he had tapped no one on the back the first round but everyone on the second. The first time no one actually performed but the second one everyone did.

We later read scene 11 in Equus in pairs and added gestures. Then we performed the scene through the gestures only.

8/11/17
On today's lesson we explored different levels of tension. Catatonic, relaxed, neutral, alert, suspense, passionate, tragic. We all tried to portray all the seven stages and then adapted them into a scene of a group watching tv being differencially tense.

9/11/17
Today we gathered into two groups and got 25 mins to create a scene or movement piece based on a picture stimulus portraying some kind of conflict. My group portrayed a nazi march and the victims of discrimination standing up to them in a movement piece.

14/11/17
We started with the warmups; the winking game, 1-10 speed around the room, kiddie in the middle and a game when we switched chairs.
Then we rehearsed scene 11 with only gestures and showed it to the class.

15/11/17
First we played the alphabet game where we were put into groups and had to say the alphabet one letter at the time for each person. This was to help us become focused and alert.
then we got into groups of two and got two sheets of papers with a phrase. Then we improvised a scene starting it with one phrase and ending it with the other. We did this to practise on improve and to use our imagination, without saying no or 'blocking'
Then we rehearsed the movement sequence we did last the week before.
