The Spanish were exploring but they were so violent it turned in to war and conquering and invading land. the English were more passive with exploring but they still invaded land. English would conquer land of people that were not Christian and steal their gold and spices. The Spanish would hold people hostage and take their resources and take over their land. The Spanish leader, Hernan Cortes, made Montezuma think he was a god because his armor was way nicer and shinier than theirs.
     Although the English and Spanish had different ways of encountering natives, they could both be very harsh to them. Christopher Columbus enslaved natives and made them work for him. John Smith was an English man who imprisoned natives and whipped and beat them.
