This is my final draft of the letter written to Dr. Witherspoon regarding the expansion of the Pathway To Honors program and how crucial the program is to the success of Evanston. My hope for this letter after reaching Dr. Witherspoon is that it kick-starts a uprising of people who also feel this program needs to be expanded. With that I hope news reaches the school board and they begin to consider expanding the program for the overwhelming success of their students.

Through my research I realized a lot about how truly impactful this program has been on Evanston. I started this project because I really enjoyed the program last year and thought expanding it would benefit the entire Evanston community. As research went on, I began to become extremely passionate about this expansion. It was because of my research that I learned the true power of the Pathway To Honors program.

Represented here is something I believe resembles the Pathway To Honors program. The three jars labeled "PTH" are acting as the Pathway To Honors program, where as the words inside are the benefits the program provides for students. Everyone word relates to the program and the impact it has had on the community and the success of students. When anyone pulls a word from any jar, they receive a taste of what the Pathway To Honors program has to offer.

Statistical Data Proving Positive Change

This graph came straight from "Detracked and Going Strong", By Dr. Bavis. I decided to single out this specific graph due to its ability to truly represent the improvement the Pathway To Honors program has had on the entire school, and the test scores as well as grades of the students. This graph not only proves that students who continue to take honors in the future are better equipped with the skills to handle it, but it also proves that students who go on after this program to even just take regular classes are also severely improving their academic success. My question is, so why stop there? If this much growth is coming from giving students the opportunity to take Pathway To Honors in only freshman year, imagine the levels of success possible if the program were to expand. It is important that we recognize this growth, but it is even more important to take that information and use it, to further benefit the students of Evanston.

Art Work In The Evanstonian

This is a piece of wonderful art work found in the Evanstonian article titled, "Peeling Away Th Payer Behind Pathway To Honors". This article is truly inspiring and an amazing but this piece of art really resonated with me. I think this really represents a portion of the Pathway To Honors program I have not evaluated; the idea that this program is even more crucial because of its ability to minimize the gap between white students and any other culture or ethnicity. Traditionally white students were better equipped to be in honors programs due to racist placement testing, but once Pathway To Honors began, the playing field became more even, allowing other ethnicities to have equal opportunity at success.

This thoughtful and insightful article written by Dr. Bavis continuously proves the benefits of the Pathway To Honors program. This article is extremely well put together and explains why the Pathway To Honors program is so important to the success of Evanston Township. Although I speak only positively on this article, I do believe it sets up perfect grounds for expansion of the program. If this program is giving Evanston students better scores and grades in the future; not to mention the skills and interaction they receive from every class, why should it stop freshman year? The opportunity of growth in life is never ending so why is this program? The program can give so much back to its students and they deserve this enriched learning all four years of their Evanston carriers.
