Investigated how higher externalizing problems in childhood would be linked to later conduct problems in adolescence

3 pattern groups emerged
1. 15% exhibited severe conduct problems (which transitioned to conduct disorders in adolescence) ex. criminal behaviors and conduct disorder symptoms
2. 7% exhibited elevations in mood dysregulation (suicidal ideation with elevated levels in adolescence) ex. depressed mood, suicidality and reactive anger
3. 78% had low levels of conduct and mood problems (did not exhibit risky pattern. HOWEVER: does not mean they did not later have conduct disorder issues
ex. later in adolescence 48% had arrest record, 45% had dropped out...) Lower problem class did not mean successful adaptation and resilient to their high risk backgrounds.
