Hello Aidan,
thanks for your email. How have you been? I've been trying out for the football team for years and this year I was finally accepted! I really like it but the practice's are exhausting and I don't have much free time left.

I did hear about your birthday coming up, my mom reminded me recently.

Your ideas are great! I think it would be awesome to celebrate your birthday with your closest friends watching a great movie! I would also suggest to invite them for a sleep over at your place. That way you can spend more time together and enjoy your birthday until the last minute.

That's so fun! I'm really sorry but I've already lended my sleeping back to one of my friends from school and I'm not sure when he'll bring it back.

Hope to hear from you soon,
Evelina
(145 words)

Hi Aidan,

It was nice to hear from you! Yes, I’ve joined the football team last month. At first I was a little shy to play, because it was all new, but now I’m really enjoying it. I’ve made a few friends and I’m having such a blast!

I know your birthday is coming soon, because I have it marked on my calendar. Me and Lucy already went to buy you a present! I like your ideas for the party, but I would suggest arranging it inside, because the weather reports say that it will most likely rain that day. We could go see a movie or make a small party in your house.

Oh, and I’m sorry, but you can’t borrow my sleeping bag. I already gave it to my little sister. She is having a sleepover at her friends house. You can ask Lucy, I think she has one. Don’t forget to tell me all about the camping!

See you soon,

Gabija (165 words)

The team is very friendly, but the coach is a bit intense.

Yes, of course I know it’s your birthday next week! I have it marked on my calendar.

I think that both of the options are great but if you want to have birthday without your parents I would suggest you to rent some kind of an apartment or a forest cabin. The forest cabin would be a great idea because you could have barbecue there. I remember that Steven knows everything about it so he could help you out. Also, you could invite a lot of friends. I’ll send you a few links I have found for the forest cabin!

It’s so nice, that you are going camping. I have to disappoint you, but I left my sleeping bag at my uncle’s in the other city. Everyone on the team is super friendly and the coach is pretty strict but I like him. I think it was a great idea to join this football team.

Yeah I heard rumours about your birthday party actually one of the football team members said to me and I think he might have said it to the whole team, so yes you are burned.

I think my suggestion would be to do your birthday party in the garden. We could have a nice barbecue, we could just sit talk about everything. I think it would be pretty nice. Oh almost forgot, about your dad's help, so you can say to him that I'm experienced in barbecuing so I think we will be alright.

No, because my brother was playing in the garage where the sleeping bag was and he somehow ripped it apart, so now there is a huge hole in it. Sorry.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Mari Dominyka

Do I feel anxious before an exam depends on how well I have learned about the said topic and if the exam is difficult or not. Usually, I do feel anxious, because I get scared of failure and put too much pressure on myself. During the exams, I have felt all sorts of emotions. I felt disappointed, happy and proud, depending on how well I answered the questions and what were the results. Unfortunately, the results often make those emotions grow and compare my abilities to them. Besides that, it helps me to learn from my mistakes. (97 words)

· We all know that cultural ambassador is not an easy job, often you have to travel and change your living space. Being an ambassador and traveling somewhere without my family would make me feel sad and depressed. On the other hand, I would love to travel around the world, because I would get a chance to experience living somewhere else where and learn about the other cultures.

· Living in a cosmopolitan city has a lot of advantages. One of them would be learning about other cultures and being able to communicate with pupils from other countries. Also being able to try so much food restaurants there, because often the people who work there are from that culture or country. The only minus about living in the cosmopolitan country would be differences between cultures, sometimes it can be difficult to communicate with each other because of language, customs or religion differences.

· Learning about other people’s cultures is really not that difficult. These times we live in has everything we need to do research on other people’s cultures. Almost everyone has a wi-fi at their house and some kind of a device to use. The internet is filled with information and all you need to do is just find it. If you dislike reading something, there is a huge selection of movies about all of the different cultures in the world. There also are a lot of exchange programs like ERASMUS, which gives you great opportunity not just to travel, but also to learn about the differences and similarities of other cultures

In my opinion, I would like to be a cultural ambassador for my country because I find it interesting to communicate with different people. For example, there are a lot of exchange programs like Erasmus or other exchange programs. There you can find new friends, see different cultures, hear different languages. On the other hand, being a cultural ambassador of my country is a big responsibility on my shoulders. For example, if a guest asks you a question about your countries culture and you don’t know the answer or something bad happens all responsibility is on you.
Also, I see more advantages to living in a cosmopolitan city. Firstly, you can learn and speak a few languages easily. For example, you grow up in the kinder garden in a group of kids in which different kids were speaking in 6 different languages and in that way you were able to learn more languages. Secondly, I think you become more tolerant about other cultures, languages, and people and you have a mindset that all people equals. For example, you don’t think that one nation is better than another, you think that all people are equal. In another hand, you can speak badly in your origin language because you learned 3 languages but you are not a fluent speaker in your origin language and you can assimilate to other cultures.
In my opinion, we all have what to learn from other different cultures and people. All cultures have bad and good features that differentiate them from each other. For example from one culture, you can learn that the most important thing in your lives is freedom or the importance of knowledge. Also, we can learn from the history of different cultures, nations, people in with that knowledge and experience we can solve problems easier in the future.
303 words

I wouldn’t like to become a cultural ambassador for my country, because it seems like a lot of responsability and hard work to learn and remember most of my countries culture. However, it would be an honor to teach other ethnicities about my culture and represent it, because my country is small and not many people know about it.
Living in a cosmopolitan city has many advantages, such as better job opportunities and salary, best medical service possible and fast transportation, all because of the big employment, competition and large population. The cosmopolitan cities also have a lot of entertainment options and great opportunities to meet interesting new people, because the city is hosting people with different ethnicities and cultures, so they have a lot to give to the city. However, the advantages come with a price. Many people don’t want to live there, because of the noise, pricy cramped spaces and competition.
To learn about other peoples cultures, we can participate in cultural events and online programs. This way, it’s a lot easier to learn a lot of information about different cultures in a shorter time. There is also an option to research the countries on your own, by reading books and searching on the internet, or even traveling to the countries and learning from the locals. (218 words)

We have all of the exotic fruits we could ever think and in 1970’s the only food sources in Lithuania was just really what we had here, or something from the other country would be so expensive that you couldn’t even think about buying it, for example simple things like pineapples were very rare.

· Now we have everything we could think of, the schools are free, we have a lot of hospitals and other services, but my grandparents didn’t have that much in 1970, also till 1950 you had to pay for your education.

· People now can travel basically anywhere, we have plaines, trains, busses, cars and all sorts of transportation. You can just get on the plane and in the next 10 hours wake up in Hawaii. In 1970’s you could just dream about going to Hawaii because the only “acceptable” countries to travel was Poland, Belarus, Russia and everything that is very close to Lithuania and even then you had to have a lot of money to do that.

· Music in 1970 was all about music, people then and people now loved listening to the music. Music now has a lot of beats, special effects and a lot more, sometimes grandparents don’t understand it, because in their time the music was very simple and happy, but there wasn’t just one type of music, they had a lot of pop music, roc music and even hip hop (mostly in other countries)

Now we can travel around the world with no constraints but 50 years ago in Soviet times your traveling was minimalistic and also there was less capabilities to travel in Soviet times because lack of money.

4. Now when we are in European Union food availability is much better than it was Soviet times for example: bananas before was very rare food but now it's everywhere. I think now we are obsessed with food, but this does not seem to correlate with good health. The biggest change involving food in the last 50 years just might be the fact that, people have too much food. Before people were happy that they had one pack of milk and slice of bread.

5. With time, more musical instruments were developed and played together which resulted in more sophisticated sounds being produced. The beats, rhythms, tempo and lyrics of songs all changed along. Songs are shorter overall.

It is a chance to them, to see beautiful cultural differences between countries. Also, without any of our own traditions we would just be the same as some other country. Traditions help people feel and stay united. Traditions make country special and unique, because every tradition is different from anything you see elsewhere, especially if it is an ancient tradition. Finding out about other cultures is so much easier now than it was in the past.

To my mind, keeping local traditions alive is very important because people learn from their ancestor’s mistakes and understand where they come from and how their place of origin was created. Traditions help teach young people about their culture’s beliefs, heritage, losing that would destroy their roots and make it really hard for young individuals to know what kind of people they want to be. I believe keeping traditions alive was easier in the past. People were more respectful and admiring towards their originators than now and were interested in learning their history. On the other hand, in the modern days we can learn everything about a culture’s heritage and traditions with a click of a button – that gives us a very big advantage compared to the people in the past.

131 words.

I believe that it's quite important to keep local traditions. A country without any traditions is going to be very dull. Imagine living in a country with no traditional music, no traditional foods and extremely bland architecture. Traveling the world would be pointless since there would be nothing to see. Everything would be depressing to look at for most people. Nowadays though people don't look up to traditions as much as our ancestors have been. But it still has inspired a lot of people to do things that we never would have thought of doing. Maybe we will forget about our traditions in the future, but it has impacted our livelihood in a good way, so that's why i think it should be protected.

134 Words

We live in a world, where making our everyday life easier as a unified group and available to everyone is a big priority. The local traditions are what keeps us unique and provides a sense of identity and solidarity not only to individual people, but to big communities too. Traditions are the foundation of our past generations beliefs, they reinforce our values, ethics, helps us to learn from past mistakes and raise better new generations.
In the past, it wasn’t as easy to learn about other cultures compared to now. These days, we have access to overwhelming amount of information on the internet and books, as well as opportunities to travel freely and explore the local life ourselves. We should be extremely grateful and respectful of not only our own traditions, but others too.
(147 words)

It is really important to keep traditions alive because traditions educate generations about their history. It is also important to preserve our cultural heritage because it keeps our integrity as a people. Keeping traditions alive is important for teaching the next generation about a particular or shared past. Traditions are beliefs or behaviors that are handed down from one generation to the next within a particular group, society or family. Without keeping traditions alive it would be boring, everything in every country would be the same. Also, it's interesting to know about past traditions, how they changed. It's way easier, in these days we have all possibilities to find out, to learn about various different traditions, because we have the Internet, most of the world has computers, phones. Also, we can travel around the world easily, without restrictions. On the other hand, in the past there was no Internet, no technology and there were a lot of traveling restrictions and not everyone could afford traveling.

Why?

· Is it easier to find out about other cultures than in the past? Why?/Why not ?

In my opinion, it is important to keep and save local traditions alive. Because without our traditions we will become not unique and not different from others. Additionally, if people lose and forget their traditions other people's traditions and cultures come, and then assimilation happens. In other hand some traditions can be bad for us from science perspective. Traditions can be unlogical and farther from the truth of our World. For example, heathen people had traditions to pray for gods and they killed kids, adults, animals to get help and support from the gods. In my opinion, now it is far more easier to find out about other cultures than in the past because of the internet, globalization and higher travel opportunities. For example, we can watch films, youtube about other cultures, people, countries, traditions and that was impossible in the past. Now we can easier to travel around the world and see other local traditions from our eyes.

159 words Andrius Kločiok

I agree with the claim that Cleopatra was the word’s first celebrity ane she won't be forgotten for a long time. She is famous because she was the first woman immigrant, queen of Egypt and also of her love story with Julius Cesar. Cleopatra has ballets, operas and plays written about her. I think that nowadays celebrities will be remembered for a long time because of their fame and good things that they did. For example, donating money for charity, for kids who don't have parents.

I agree that Cleopatra was ,,the world’s first celebrity’’. From ancient times to the present day, Cleopatra is considered to be a popular and well-known personality. Cleopatra inspired plays, movies and even books. I do not think that celebrities that are popular in the present will be remembered for long. Celebrities should be charismatic and their activities should attract people. Although, most celebrities do not even try to achieve that, some of them do what they do just for entertainment.
