This could also be connected and compared with China and conceptions of ethnicity in republican and later communist China.

Week 5 Conceptualising Race, Citizenship, and Denationalization in the Third Reich  

Topics: Legal history of the Third Reich; analysis of occupation regimes or specific legislation; analysis of the Third Reich’s foreign policy and issues of citizenship.

Can also be compared with conceptions of race and citizenship in other states and regimes of the period.

Week 7 Refugees, International Governance and Statelessness in the Mid-Twentieth Century

Topics: History of a legal concept; case study of a particular group; discussion of a historical moment

Week 8 Social Rights and Decolonization
