This Links to Fiske's theory that the viewer finds pleasure from relating to a character and will side with them through the media (In this case the T.V. Series). They will relate to a characters characteristics or collective group they belong to like gender, age group or subculture. Nonetheless, the audience for Fresh Meat is young people as they are likely to relate to the characters or circumstance of them being at university.
