One Injustice that Elizabeth had to face that current women do not have to face is rampant sexism. Women were oppressed, and in this situation, were not limited to medical careers. The article states that "As some other women did at the time, she studied independently with doctors before getting accepted in 1847 to Geneva Medical College in upstate New York. Her acceptance was deemed by the student body as an administrative practical joke." Today this would be looked down upon by everybody as discrimination against women. A possible reason for the inequality of genders and sexes may be their physical differences. Men are factually proven to be physically stronger than women. If two similar body types of two sexes were to train for the same amount of time, it is likely that the man would be more physically capable, if little. Another reason may be because of the gender roles we have assigned to women. Women are thought to think more emotionally than men, and have more visible sexual features. This may lead one to believe that women are generally weaker than men, even though they are the same species. She also had got denied about 30 times. If I had to face these obstacles, I would of probably just gave up. I respect her for not giving up, but I wouldn't be able to do this. I wouldn't have the patience and mental strength. Unless I was very motivated, I could never ever did this.
