Growing up here in Washoe County, we were constantly told that computers were the wave of the future, that if we wanted jobs that we would learn the ins and outs of a computer. I can remember using CompuServe before there was AOL (which now owns CompuServe). The dial-up modem was the sound that connected you to the World Wide Web. Now we hold computers in our hands and have an app for everything. With school funding and teacher evaluations tied to testing, there is little incentive for teachers or schools to take the time to teach coding. Many of those states are surrounding Nevada; such as the amazing California, Oregon, Arizona, etc. Yet Nevada still has CS as an elective (Well the few schools that offer it, that is).
