His current work explores new directions in mobile computing, digital storytelling, learning analytics, and educational gaming, focusing on applications in areas where they have not been traditionally employed.

Personally, I look forward to implementing the SAMR model into my classroom. Technology is expanding everyday and it is an amazing tool that allows us to teach in so many ways. I am sure I will find many lesson plans, both old and new, and running them through the cycle of the SAMR model is only going to improve them. Every lesson, activity and designer has an entry point and those at the highest levels can be challenged to redefine learning.

The SAMR model is a useful tool for helping teachers think about their own tech use as they begin to make small shifts in the design and implementation of technology driven learning experiences to achieve the next level. The goal is to transform learning experiences so they result in higher levels of achievement for students. SAMR provides a framework for the creation of assignments that address all levels of skills.
https://www.educatorstechnology.com/2013/06/samr-model-explained-for-teachers.html

This model not only allows for technology to be implemented in the classroom, but for learning to be redefined in general. Applying the SAMR model to lesson plans allows for students with a variety of learning styles to participate and excel inside and outside of the classroom.

The lesson plan we chose to transform is a 4th grade math lesson on fractions. During this lesson students will experience four stations.
One: Zombie Fractions
-Students will be choosing a zombie fraction card and writing down on a piece of paper all the different ways to breakdown the fraction.
Two: Clothesline
- Students will be given clothespins with fractions written on them and will have to hang them on the clothesline in order from smallest to largest.
Three: Fraction Card Comparison
-Students play this game like war, each flipping a card simultaneously. Whichever players recognizes the larger fraction first gets to keep both cards.
Four: Word Problems with Fractions
- Provide students with note cards with fraction word problems written on them. Have students work in pairs to solve each problem. Make these problems more challenging by requiring students to reduce their answers.

http://lessonplanspage.com/grades-4-5-fraction-boot-camp/

At the substitution level for this lesson plan, we decided to implement the use of an Excel spreadsheet. The teacher would provide the students with a template of a chart to complete. The student could fill in the blocks with color in order to represent the parts of the fraction. We would use this at the Zombie Fractions station in order to replace the paper and pencil breakdown.

At the augmentation level for this lesson plan, the use of the SMARTboard would not only provide a great implementation of technology, but also improve the functionality of the project. We would include the SMARTboard at station four and have the students work out the word problems on the SMARTboard, allowing for endless writing space and the ability to collaborate and compare with peers.

Use Google Sheet and direct students to online examples and supplementary learning materials for areas that they might struggle with. Google Sheet will allow for discovery of new ideas and provide a better understanding of fractions for the students. The extra tools create a way to give students the opportunity to learn in a way that is best for them.

In redefinition, the lesson can be broken into parts, and the class into groups. Each group of students will get be assigned a specific part of the lesson. Using video equipment, students in the groups can create a video tutorial of the lesson that they learned. In their own words, they can explain the lesson and steps to their problem. Once the video has been created, they can uploaded it to Google Drive in order for them to share it with their classmates. They also can be posted to the classroom website in order for administrators, faculty, and parents to see the students work. This will allow the students to use technology to drive their learning as well as aid other students in their learning in a new, innovative, and interactive way.
