Relating this to Springay & Truman and the AIF article, walking in Times Square made me more aware of how people, advertisements, and technology all shape the feeling of the place. Times Square is carefully designed and controlled through rules, business interests, and even security. By walking, I noticed small details I would have missed just looking at pictures or maps, like how people move, where they stop, and how police and workers manage the crowds. Overall, this walk helped me see how a busy urban space like Times Square organizes social life, as it is one of the most famous tourist attractions in the world.

1. The rules and norms are that people should keep walking, move out of the way to take photos, do it quickly, tip street performers, and keep on moving. Don't block traffic.

2. Times squares theatre history still shapes it today as it is a bright and very active place to be.

3. Times Square is always moving, it is not meant for long breaks or quiet moments and talking. It is meant for a few pictures and maybe some shopping and watching street preformences.

1. People usually feel invited to Times Square, there are also many homeless people there because of there desperate need of help by the many many strangers walking around. They won't be able to afford anything there though as Times Square is typically expensive.

2. Security, Police, and business owners hold authority here.

3. Entry to Times Square is free, but many things you may want to do here cost money such as eating, entertainment, and shopping. That is typically expensive.

4. People all over the world come here, but there class and income decide the experience they will have here.

5. Cameras, surveillance, and security/police are everywhere making people behave accordingly.

6. This space is kept clean, showing that it is an inviting place for tourists.

1. I have lived close to the City my whole life, so these experiences I was very used to with the crowd and loud sound from the crowd as well as the busy streets.

2. I would assume that most people I saw there were tourists visiting. I barely heard anybody speak English which would mean so many people were tourists from around the world.

3. I can learn more by reading, interviewing, and doing research to learn more about what I have seen in Times Square to fully understand.

4. Local businesses show how the space is very inviting, safe, and lively. They show that it is a fun place to be which can hide the fact that it is so crowded and overwhelming.

Jacob- "Yes"

"My faith is what keeps me going when things get hard." I got to interview Jacob DiazGranados of St. Johns University. Jacob chose St. Johns because of its beautiful campus, despite it being in the middle of Jamaica Queens, he says at this campus, it feels like you're not in the Queens. Jacob's most meaningful experiences on campus is finding his family away from his family. Finding some of his closest friends here are some of his best memories so far on campus. St. Johns have made him a more mature person as he have been in some uncomfortable and got to step out of his comfort zone a few times. An example of this is when his roommates made him feel uncomfortable in his new home, he was mature enough to tell res life and move his housing instead of leaving the school or fighting back. When things get hard, his faith is what inspires him to keep going and keep moving forward, and as well as his family as he is always trying to make them proud. "being able to talk to my family and telling them all that I have done and accomplished is what keeps me going"
