This is super crazy because earth is 150 million miles away! Lightbulbs and stars are very similiar when it comes to shining. Stars and light bulbs alike can have different brightnesses. But if a star is farther away, and shines brighter like Betelgeuse than the sun you can not see it like you can see the sun even though the sun is smaller and not as bright. Lastly luminous means that a star is shining or letting of light like the sun. 4.The brightness of a star is similar to the brightness of a lightbulb because all stars glow differently and all lightbulbs glow differently.
5. You think the sun is big? If the sun is big, Betelgeuse is enormous!!!It is about 400 times as big!

On my lamp, how many times you turn the switch, it gets brighter. So, its total brightens. For a star, It is way brighter! I do think it is interesting that it takes us so long to get to the earth, but it takes the speed of light 8 min.! Wow, I almost wish it did not. The other day, addy said that when the sun burned out, it would take 8 min. to get to us. If it took longer, who knows? it might be better. So,  7 billion people on earth. Wow that is so big. You could only fit like, 4 BILLION times that on Betelgeuse.
