We leave off where George is talking to Michaelis. George is thinking about who could've killed his wife. During this thinking, a thought comes to mind. After thinking for a while about who would've wanted his wife dead, he finally realizes who his wife had been with this whole time. He had been around at the same time she had left for New York, every time. He always showed up to his shop. Why would Tom Buchanan, a rich man from the East Egg, be in his shop, in the Valley of Ashes?

"I know who killed my wife," muttered George, "it HAS to be him!"

"Who?" asked Michaelis, curiously.

"It was Tom. It HAS to be."

"You're crazy. Tom is a long-time friend of yours-"

"Tom has never truly cared about me. I can sense it. He comes here only to visit my wife. He must've wanted to get rid of her before I found out."

"Calm down, you're not thinking straight right now, George."

It was four hours after he fell asleep when Michaelis noticed that George's car was gone. The next day, police swarmed the Buchanan household. Three bodies were found, that of Tom, Daisy, and George, who had shot himself after shooting the couple. Nick gets the call from police that his cousin had perished. Nick, with a heavy heart, decides to tell Gatsby of the grave news. He knew it would break his heart. But he would find out one way or another, so Nick begrudgingly knocks on Gatsby's door.

"Hello old sport, what brings you here at this hour?" said Gatsby cheerfully. He was somehow unable to see the somber face that Nick had.

"Gatsby... I have bad news." said Nick, sadly.

"Come in, old sport. Please, sit."

"I... I'm so sorry Gatsby."

"What? What happened?"

"I... Gatsby, Daisy is gone."

Gatsby didn't move, unable to process what he had just heard.

"She was murdered."

Gatsby fell to his knees. Everything he lived for, she was now gone. Tears rolled down his face. Nick held his hand on Gatsby's shoulder, sharing in the loss. Gatsby's sadness turned to anger.

"Who did it? Who killed her? Was it Tom?"

"No. It was Wilson. Tom was cheating on Daisy with Wilson's wife. He must've found out..."

"Where is he? I am going to-"

"Dead. Shot himself after."

Gatsby let out a groan, unable to enact his revenge. Nick stayed and comforted Gatsby some more, and then left him alone for a while. The funeral had been arranged for Tom and Daisy, and Nick went to tell Gatsby. There was no response upon knocking. So Nick stepped in. Calling his name while searching rooms, he stumbled upon the scene. Nick saw the look on his face. One of pure sadness and unwillingness to go on. Gatsby swayed back and forth in the late summer breeze.

The text message conversation presented is a reference to the scene in the book where Gatsby and Nick are speaking about Nick's lawn. At the beginning of chapter 5, they discuss this, and later on, someone shows up to mow, "At eleven o'clock a man in a raincoat, dragging a lawn mower, tapped at my front door and said Mr. Gatsby had sent him over to cut my grass." (Fitzgerald 65) Nick comes off as slightly annoyed at Gatsby's gesture, including when Gatsby calls out that Nick doesn't make much money.

A cursive font was used to accurately portray what a party invitation may have looked like in the 20s. To show what the parties are like, I added "fun" and "socialize" to show that many people would be there. I believe this accurately shows the brightness and chaos that occurs at Gatsby's parties.

Gatsby License Plate

This license plate was created in the fashion that a typical 1920s New York license plate would have. It may have been something Gatsby would've had on his car. Perhaps the yellow car that Gatsby owned and that was involved in the murder of Myrtle.

This is a collection of stories and visuals surrounding the novel "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It was published in 1925. Genre 1 consists of a story involving an alternate timeline of the book about if George killed Tom and Daisy. Genre 2 is a text message conversation between Gatsby and Nick. I chose to write about this when the idea was given to me by a friend. The idea that things could've gone completely different if George had known about his wife cheating on him with Tom is explored. With Daisy gone, Gatsby is heartbroken beyond repair. I chose to have a depressing ending for Gatsby, with him ending his own life due to his love being violently taken away.
