Their way of living is a simplistic one, people learn through a process called hypnopedics, in other words, they listen during sleep  the  information and when they wake up they have all the knowledge "stored" in their memory. How would a modern-day human interact with such an avant-garde society? To find out, Aldous Huxley introduces the "Savage", a young man "accidentally born naturally" into the wilderness. He was raised on a reservation where the locals were allowed to live according to the principles of the old world. Once in the new world, the young man struggles to cope with the differences in living conditions, leading him to a somewhat predictable end, given the difficulty of adjusting to a world he had hoped to know, but which eventually led him to give up.

The evolution of science, as described in the novel, only goes to show readers that the development of technology brings with it both good and not so good consequences. Of course, the development of society must not be slowed down, but the risks we are about to take and the things we are willing to give up must be weighed carefully. The "Brave New World" makes us reflect on a simple, imagineable idea that can become a reality, but probably should remain just that. The savage, once aware of the huge differences between the two realities, and of the high price he must pay, chooses freedom even if it often comes with pain and disappointment: "I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want kindness. I want sin."
