This important trade took place in the trans-Saharan trade. The Mali Kingdom also gained its wealth from gold and its city, Timbuktu, became the center of trade. Lastly, the Kingdom of Songhai, formed around the Niger river, captured the city of Timbuktu and was lead by Sunni Ali and Askia Muhammad.</p>]]></description>

Musa was a devoted Muslim who was responsible for the development of Ghana and made it grow twice in size.
