         <description><![CDATA[<div>One way that it created competition is that both sides felt the need to be ahead of the other country. The US feared falling behind in terms of technological advancement.&nbsp;<br>Another is superiority. Russia wanted to prove they were better than the US. They both competed to prove their technological superiority.&nbsp;<br>The final way is fear. US citizens feared the Russian spacecraft flying far above their heads every day. They worried it could be some sort of spycraft/warcraft. <br><br></div>]]></description>
