He is fat and unattractive. He is intuitive but is blinded by his friendship with Walter. He is fat and ugly.

Lola is young and pretty. She is the daughter of Mr Nirdlinger. She later appeares at his appartment without him knowiing she was going to be there, yet he did know that it was her when she knocked on the door. Later on Walter is becoming suspicius that she may be plotting a murder on her husband, and He decides to investigate further, and begins to develop feelings for Phyllis, despite his suspicions. Lola's getting more into the case, and she tells Walter the things she know about Phyllis. But Walter knows that if Lola starts telling these things in court, he will also get caught.

He walks over to his bed and tells him that the theater program in his pocket saved his life. And he was an eight of an inch to die. Walter asks him whether they got the bullet and whether they got the woman. To both questions, Keyes answers yes.

And then he starts making his statement. His statement starts exactly as the book starts. The ending is very different.

Phyllis wasn't as seductive as in the book. And the movie didn't focus much on Lola as in the book. Keyes plays a bigger role in the movie than in the book.

We prefer the Movie ending, it seems more realistic and more open.
