Climate change makes them happen more often. Here in the Dominican Republic, we must know the rules to stay safe.


  • When there is a flood from rain or a hurricane, the rule is: "Turn around, don't drown." Two feet of water can move a car.


  • When there is a storm with a strong wind, we stay home, because trees and electric wire can fall.


  • When there is a fire in the mountains, it goes fast with the wind and the hill. We need a plan to escape quickly.


  • We also learn that hurricanes begin in the warm Caribbean Sea, and the eyeball is the most dangerous part.
