Herbert Mullin is a good example of a Visionary serial killer. Mullin killed 13 people between 1972 and 1973 as a blood sacrifice. The 1 extra being the teenage son of his first victim. Almost every time, he'd kill them after he was certain he'd stolen all of their financial assets. These are only the confirmed ones, especially considering the investigators tracked his connections to 283 other women, 73 of which couldn't be found. But since they didn't have enough evidence to confirm any connections to the rest of the missing 73 women, they stuck with what they DID have evidence of. His case was investigated for over a year, and the final verdict was death by guillotine for 11 confirmed murders.

Later in life, he was discharged early from the military for disorderly conduct. After that, between the dates of June 1962 and January 1964, he went on a spree where he was found guilty of killing and raping 11 out of 13 women and leaving the rope of cord he strangled them with, tied around their necks in a bow. Later on October 27th, 1964, as he was going to kill his next victim, he was caught and convicted where he confessed to the murders and assaults.
