The mouth is an opening in the head where digestion begins. It breaks down food into smaller pieces. When you put food into your mouth, you begin to salivate. Then you start to chew with your teeth. Your tongue starts moving the food around in your mouth until it is small enough to swallow. Your tongue starts to move the bolus toward the back of your throat and then you swallow.

The Stomach

The Stomach breaks down the food and also stores the food like massive meals. It is in the side of the belly and it is below the liver but up top of the intestines, It also gets bigger to store food. It has acid to break down the food into a liquid mixture and then take it to the small intestine. The acid's name is chymes and it is made with gastric juices and the acid has enzymes and hydrochloric acid in it. The walls of the stomach are made of muscles and gastric to make it for the acid to not get out of your stomach and carbohydrates are easily digested for the stomach. The stomach digests Proteins for longer than carbohydrates and fat takes the longest to digest for the stomach. The stomach is about the same size as a tennis ball but when it is empty it can become bigger and become the same side as a football, If you eat something. The stomach acid is so powerful that it can dissolve metal because the acid is very strong.

The Esophagus

The Esophagus is a tube that takes the food to the stomach in the neck to take food down. When you swallow with your mouth, take the food to Esophagus with saliva and the Esophagus take it down to the stomach with a muscle named peristalsis. The Esophagus have Epiglottis, The Epiglottis make such food do not go in the windpipe, The windpipe is the pipe that you breathe in. The Esophagus traveled the food to the stomach in 2 to 3 seconds and the Esophagus muscle can make you eat upside down. The Esophagus is about 10 inches long and Esophagus also has mucus to make it easier to swallow.
