We have a few grade levels at the elementary school that have units that focus on fairy tales. The fairy tales we currently have in the library are not diverse. This book is the 2022 Newberry Medal Winner and Pura Belpre Award. It has also won many other awards and honors. This science fiction book is about the Earth being destroyed by a comet and so a few hundred people travel to a new planet. Hundreds of years later the main character Petra is the only one aboard who awakes with memories of Earth. She had always wanted to be a storyteller like her abuela and now she is the only one who is able to tell stories of the past. Wow.
