Cubism was important because it was the first style of abstractart and it influenced a lot of other artists. It was the start of modrn art. Cubism artists used geometric shapes to represent peolple and objects in their paintings. The paintings weren't realistic. Picasso, Braque and Gris didn't copy real images. They painted the images they saw in their minds. They focussed on the characteristic parts of image and often included different perspectives of the same image in the same picutre.
