Did you know that South Korea has the lowest birth rate in the entire world?
It’s not just a number—it’s a sign of a much deeper problem that affects the country’s future.

In this presentation, I’ll explore why so many young Koreans are choosing not to have children.
This is an issue that goes far beyond personal choice—it’s something that could threaten Korea’s long-term sustainability as a society. That’s why I believe it deserves more attention.

First, the cost of raising a child in Korea is extremely high, especially with the country’s intense education system.
Second, many women feel forced to choose between having a career and starting a family—because doing both is still very difficult.
And finally, social pressure and competition create a culture where having kids feels like just another stressful life project.

So in my talk, I’ll look at what’s causing this trend, why it matters so much for Korea’s future, and what kinds of solutions we should start discussing as a society.
