This makes me think about all the times I hear names pronounced incorrectly at important events, such as the senior awards night or graduation.

A few years ago, a student by the name of Almuthana was starting his 5th grade year with me. I was terrified about saying his name incorrectly. I asked the secretary and practiced incessantly. His face as well as his parent's faces lit up when I greeted him by his name. Related or not, he has repeatedly told his parents that I was his favorite teacher.

This also makes me think about how often I stop practicing last names of kids because I don't use them as often. I need to not forget how important that aspect of their identity is too
