This board can be viewed and modified by many users. (hint: this is on Padlet)You can add pictures, videos and links. It is a great online place to store and organize ideas and information. A teacher can display this on a smart board and allow students to actively participate in lessons<br><strong>UDL Guidelines/Checkpoints: </strong><strong><em>Multiple Means of Representation</em></strong>-Offer ways of customizing the display of information.(visuals, videos, links)<strong> </strong><strong><em>Multiple Means of Representation</em></strong><em>-Comprehension Activate or supply background knowledge(brainstorming with class)</em><strong><em>Multiple Means of Engagement-</em></strong><em>Sustaining effort and persistence-foster collaboration and community. </em>Students could work together on a history project about WW2,  and present the information to veterans in the community using Padlet. Students can be given choice/options to manipulate the layout<br><strong><em>Multiple Means of Action and Expression-</em></strong>Use multimedia for communication-Some students may struggle with physical tasks of writing using paper and pencil. With padlet they could present a media presentation instead of a hand written essay. Many students may need the option to type, this will allow them to not look "different" than others.<strong> </strong>A Teacher can use Padlet to display resources that include images, and links, not just words. He/she can invite students to organize the information in ways that they can easily understand it. They can add bullets, charts, pictures etc...Students can work together on a project using padlet and the teacher can easily give feedback. You don't even have to be face to face. Students get a choice if they want to make a padlet board or film a video, write a poem or essay to explain their knowledge in any given subject area.<br><strong>Barrier Removal: </strong>Gives students the choice and ability to manipulate text, photos, links, and videos in an organized, collaborated space.  This app may help those students that have trouble staying on task, by giving them creative rein to organize the information how they choose and work with </div>]]></description>

You can select this by direct touch, head pointer, or switch scanning.  It can be words only, symbols, or real photos.<br><strong>UDL Guidelines/Checkpoints:<br>Multiple Means of Action and Expression-</strong>provide options for physical actions-optimize access to tools and assisistive technology through communication applications. For students that experience communication, physical, and or sensory disabilities allowing them access to a versitile aac app gives them the ability to communicate without using their natural voice. This is a dynamic voice output device. <strong>Multiple Means of Representation-</strong>Provide Options for language, mathematical expression and symbols-Alternate formats are available with this app...A teacher/or student can pair a word with a symbol representation or "real" photo. <br><strong>Barrier Removal: </strong>Allows students with communication disabilities to participate in class by having access to pictures and words to construct words, sentences and phrases. They are able to express their wants and needs, share information, answer questions, sequence events, categorize and so much more. It takes an interesting concept and uses it to help the student set goals and accomplish them.  Goals and objectives are listed in the game checklist and once they are completed, the student earns characters or bonus points. <strong>Multiple Means of Action and Expression-</strong>Provide options for executive functions, guide appropriate goal- setting, support planning and strategy development,facilitate managing information and resources, enhance capacity for monitoring progress. The student is in full control of setting the goals, planning how they are going to accomplish them and setting them up in manageable ways(checklist, bullets, etc..)<br><strong>Barrier Removal: </strong>Many students on the Autism Spectrum do not want to do activities that do not interest them or may experience executive functioning deficits. I have found if you find an activity that motivates them, like video games, then they are more willing to do the other undesirable activity. MOTIVATION IS KEY! Who doesn't like getting rewarded for finishing a yucky assignment?</div>]]></description>

This is done by providing individualized lessons assigned to specific students within a "game" setting.There are added visual aids in the program as well.  </em><strong><em>Multiple Means of Engagement-Provide options for sustaining effort and persistence-</em></strong><em>sustained effort is achieved through the use of interactive games in this program.</em><br><strong>Barrier Removal: </strong>Can we say motivational!          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Website: </strong>Download the application at: <a href="https://www.apple.com/ios/app-store/">https://www.apple.com/ios/app-store/</a> <br><strong>Description: </strong>Abilipad is a customizable notepad and keyboard app for the iPad, with advanced word prediction and text-to-speech options. <br><strong>UDL Guidelines/Checkpoints:</strong><br>Multiple Means of Action and Expression-provide options for physical actions-vary methods for response and navigation. Abilipad downloaded on an ipad or iphone could be used in a classroom to compose written messages without ever having to use a pencil. <br><strong>Barrier Removal: </strong>Students with difficulty with spelling errors so significant that you can not understand their writing, can now use Abilipad. When the student starts to type the word they are looking for,  the app gives them both the word and the pronunciation of the word for the writer to choose from. If it is spelled incorrectly,it will be said incorrectly and the writer can then edit it. Also students that can not hold a pencil or pen can use a different means of written expression, by utilizing customizable onscreen keyboards or external blue tooth keyboards.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Website: </strong>Download the application at:<br>http://www.apple.com/ios/app-store/<br><strong>Description: </strong>Seeing AI is an optical Character Recognition(OCR) application that can be downloaded to a smart device. This application utilizes the device camera to take a picture of any text and condense it to the device screen and read it aloud. It has multiple voices, and you can change the rate of speech, plus highlight the text as it reads.<br><strong>UDL Guidelines/Checkpoints:</strong><br><strong><em>Multiple Means of Representation</em></strong>-Provide options for perception-By using an OCR, all the text is read out loud(or with earphones). Students can break into groups and scan different short texts to save and hear again or at a later date. No reading required. If you want to read along, you can with high lighting. You are offering ways of customizing the display of information. <br><strong>Barrier Removal</strong>-Non readers can get the same information as others. Those that can not write or type can scan teacher notes easily for later review.  This app was designed for people that are blind or visually impaired.  <br>Cool fact- you can also scan bar codes on grocery items and it will read aloud what the item is. It will also scan the environment and tell you how many people are near by.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Website: http://www.google.com/earth/</strong><br><strong>Description: </strong>Google Earth is a geobrowser that accesses satellite and aerial imagery, ocean bathymetry, and other geographic data over the internet to represent the as a three-dimensional globe. This website can be utilized by teachers and students in multiple subject areas. <br><strong>UDL Guidelines/Checkpoints: </strong><strong><em>Multiple Means of Representation- </em></strong>Provide Options for Comprehension , activate or supply background knowledge. <strong><em>Multiple Means of Engagement:</em></strong> Provide Options for Recruiting Interest,Optimize Relevance, Value, and Authenticity. Grab  students attention by pulling up a street view of outside of your classroom, the technology allows a teacher to grab and keep a students attention. <strong><em>Multiple Means of Action and Expression </em></strong> Provide Options for Expression and Communication<br>You can allow your students a choice to do a project using Google Earth to express what they have learned about Spain or different land-forms of Texas.  They can gather images to support different vocabulary and present it in a PowerPoint presentation, or other media page like Padlet. Google Earth provides visuals for more concrete learning.<br>Many students may not have knowledge of other countries or cultures, but with google Earth, you can take them to the streets of Spain in your Spanish class.  In geography class, they can see different land forms. The teacher is providing more than just words on a paper, Google earth shows video images in live action.<br><strong>Barrier Removal: </strong>Non readers can see the images/photographs. Students with Autism can have a real image to relate to, not abstract symbols or just words.  This may help your students with inadequate background knowledge or poor attention skills. </div>]]></description>
