This seems like an incredibly hard decision to make. Leaving multiple children alone to go to a new country all alone. The situation in Central America must be dire for many thousands of people to make this decision.

For a mother to leave her children, the circumstances would need to be worse than the feelings of being separated. So, in this case, leaving was the best hope that these mothers had. For themselves, and their children.

The decision is based on need. In order to provide for their families, it often requires a higher income than those made in Central America. The choice is incredibly difficult but in many situations it is for the betterment of the children's lives. If my situation was that dire, then I would do it.

It is the hardest decision many mothers have to make in poor Central American countries. Many can not provide for their children on wages made in their home countries and see immigrating as the only option to give their children a better life. Most mothers who do this would give anything to be with their children, but the best way to give their children better futures and everyday lives is to move somewhere where they can make money to send home. I have no idea what I would do in their shoes. I honestly don't know if I could do it. These women are incredibly brave.

Droves of mothers are leaving their children to try and make a better life for them. They feel as though there are better opportunities in the United States to provide for their families back home. Enrique’s mother, for instance, sends back money, clothes and other comfort items with the few dollars she can scrape up in the US. This is true of many other mothers who head north.

As a whole, you never think you’d be in a position such as this, especially as we’re in the United States. However, a lot of times parents do this in order to create a “base” in the United States in order to be able them to have a better life in the long run. This is especially common, even now, if there is a family with absolutely no connections in the United States, but have family in their location. Another common thing is to hire Coyotes to take the children to the United States after settling in. I don’t think I can truly say what I’d do in this situation as it has not appeared within my needs and that alone affects the answer.
