1) I am concerned about what possible essay and homework will come along with learning history while in English.
2) I am a very visual and hands on learner. I also feel like I tend to not like my writing style.
3) I can be shy when it comes to reading something I wrote in front of the class. I am also really out going and willing to try anything.

It is leaning towards the side of it being racists to certain people. They keep on bringing up that they were finally happy to get rid of the issue.
I think having history can be saved in many ways and by naming sport teams after groups like the Red Skins. They took it as a bad thing like the Irish team has a symbol as an Irish man. That they should embrace it.

She was a really good poet, but as a puritan she was supposed to not be a higher figure. Poets during the time were mostly men. People loved her poems that they called her "The Tenth Muse" meaning that she was really good.

What does this video show us about the depiction of the devil throughout literature?
- In shows that during different times people have different views of who and what satan is.

Why do you think writers from the Romantic period shifted away from the Puritan style of morally good characters and began writing about characters who made bad choices?

- Because they were more about emotions and deeper meaning. It helps to persuade people to not make bad choices like satan but make the right choices.

According to the video, how did Whitman revolutionize American poetry?
- By writing about actual problems that were happening around that time by using his free verse style. Some people didn't like the things he was writing about. He didn't care if it rhymed or not. He is writing a different style of poetry compare to rhyming poetry.

What is a metaphor?
- Something that is being compared between two things without using like or as. It is more sneaky than a simile.
What does it mean to use an extended metaphor?
- Take something and make it different.
Develop a metaphor to describe something that takes. up a lot of your time. Try to describe it using imagery.
- My sports take over my life.
- Sports are chains that hold me back from spending time with friends.

Describe the differences in the way these two photos depict their subjects.

- The realism one is what the older lady sees herself as. Serious face and modest outfit. Lighting is realistic like coming from a window. Natural pose.
- The romanticism one is what people want to see the young girl like. Smiling face and romantic clothes. Lighting is coming from every where unrealistic. Posed like they know they were being painting.

In art they made realistic painting to capture unknown moments that are natural. The Romantic would be more mystical.

- Freedom
- Self
- Mortality
Explain why this theme best fits the story.
- I think mortality is the best theme for the story. Life is short and wasting your whole life on others choices and not your own is what can drain it. Do what you want to do because at any point you can die.

1) We've discussed some ways that literature and art were changed as a result of WWI, but how were families impacted?

Because of the war many women had to take on jobs because all the men were gone and they had to figure out some way to support their family.
Many women desired to keep working.
The industrialized economy, led to new working opportunities for women.
Birth rates were dropping
Opened first birth control clinic.

2) What positive changes resulted for people?

Number of students increased- not having to work.
Women started having jobs- Even starting their own business.
Women could go to colleges.
Kids were spending more time with kids their own age and not adults at work.
Education offered more careers for women.

3)Were there any negative results mentioned in the video? If so, what were they?

More time with friends than family because of the automobile.
Birth rate was dropping due to women getting jobs.
