What I love about CETLS is the sense of a community I have when we meet and we collaborate on different ideas/events. Many people I have met through CETLS become familiar colleagues. This is Satenik.

For me, CELTS is about connecting with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and cultures. I love learning about people and their experiences—it’s always exciting to hear different perspectives and gain new insights from everyone.

CETLS - education core values

I know we are all educators. I could have joined Academic Senate or other committees. However, I was drawn to CETLS. I joined CETLS because education stays close to my core values beyond the classroom.

CETLS is a space for collegial collaboration and growth. It has also fostered bonds amongst faculty and the sharing of innovative approaches.

CETLS is great because it is where we can come together, talk about our teaching and research, and help each other. The community-based approach to problem solving is refreshing.

CETLS means exploration

A place to think about how to become a better teacher. Regarding the blog post, it's a place to do low-stakes writing to think through important ideas. The blog post is a place to read others' work and ideas at the college.

Regarding scholarship, it's a place to understand various types of scholarship and explore the ideas in my own work that are important to me.

Approach to instructional tech

I appreciate the focus across CETLS programming on the teaching, learning, and scholarship, so when it comes to instructional technology we can regularly discuss how the tech serves those greater causes and search for creative solutions

I appreciate the connection to faculty, relationship-building, and resource-sharing. It is a welcoming community for me.

which is often different than admin agenda, e.g., bell hooks as foundation of t&l and organizational practice, re-envisioning scholarship to reflect values, etc.

Safe Space

CETLS provides a safe space and support system that I found particularly helpful as a new faculty member, first by participating in CETLS-produced events and then by providing the tools/support one might need to produce their own.

I am reconnecting with the newer version of TLC ( Teacher Learning Center) and I look forward to networking and connecting with faculty from other departments.
