         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; A dipole (two poles) is a pair of opposite charges separated from each other in the hydrogen chloride molecule. In order to generate an inert gas electron configuration, each atom in HCl requires one extra electron. The electronegativity of chlorine is stronger than that of hydrogen, but the chlorine atom's attraction for electrons is insufficient to take one electron from hydrogen. As a result, in a polar covalent bond, the bonding electrons in hydrogen chloride are shared unequally.          <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Water is a great illustration of hydrogen bonding in action. The bond is formed between the hydrogen atoms of one water molecule and the oxygen atoms of another water molecule, rather than between the two hydrogen atoms themselves which have become a common misconception. The polar structure of the water molecule causes each hydrogen atom to be attracted to both the oxygen it is bonded to and the non-hydrogen side of the oxygen atoms in other water molecules.          <description><![CDATA[<div>     Ion-dipole force is a type of intermolecular force that exists between an ion and a dipole molecule. A positive ion will be attracted to the polar molecule's negative pole, while a negative ion will be attracted to the polar molecule's positive pole. This can be seen when sodium chloride (NaCl) dissolves in water. The slightly negative oxygen atoms in the water molecule attract the positive sodium ion (Na+), while the slightly positive hydrogen atom attracts the negative chloride ion (Cl).          <title>Petroleum Jelly</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>     London dispersion forces are actually what hold many substances together. Real-life examples include petroleum jelly, which is mostly made of alkanes of varying lengths. Because alkanes are non-polar and lack hydrogen bonds, the only IMF they have is Van der Waals dispersion. The London dispersion force is the weakest intermolecular force, according to the study. When the electrons in two nearby atoms occupy positions that cause the atoms to form temporary dipoles, it produces a temporary attractive force.
