These arches were so important because they could hold a lot of weight without collapsing. The reason they could do this is because instead of giving the weight to the structure all at once, it distributes the weight. Another great Roman material was concrete. They discovered concrete by mixing lime and volcanic rock to form a mortar. Concrete was such a big deal for the Romans because it was very strong and durable.

As the brick stamps on the side of the building reveal it was built and dedicated between A.D 118 and 125. What made the Pantheon such a great achievement was because it's top was a dome. The molds kept getting smaller lighter as they got closer to the top. This was to prevent it from collapsing.

The strengths of Roman sculpture are in portraiture, where they were less concerned with the ideal than the Greeks or Ancient Egyptians, and produced very characterful works, and in narrative relief scenes. While a great deal of Roman sculpture, especially in stone, survives more or less intact is often damaged or fragmentary; life-size bronze statues are much more rare as most have been recycled for their metal. Most statues were actually far more lifelike and often brightly colored when originally created, the pigment is now gone for being lost over the centuries.

Roman paintings are essentially a history wall paintings on plaster. Despite the lack of physical evidence, we can assume that many portable paintings depicted subjects similar to those found on the painted walls in Roman villas. Roman artists specializing in fresco most likely traveled with copybooks that reproduced popular paintings, as well decorative patterns.
